The need to meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements has transformed once simple, standalone treatment units into complex, often highly automated process trains. The ability to bypass a step in the overall treatment process is generally no longer an option and maintain permit compliance. We offer multiple technologies which can continuously and reliably achieve a facility’s treatment goals. We work with the customer and/or engineer to select the best solution using a design for purpose philosophy for their specific application. Examples of projects we are currently involved with include:

  • Hybrid Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) for the disinfection of municipal wastewater 
  • Removal of THMs and their organic precursors from potable groundwater wells using Ozone-based AOPs 
  • Remediation of man-made organic solvents and carcinogenic compounds such as PCE, TCE, and 1,4, Dioxane from potable groundwater sources
  • Development of a scalable, multi-technology treatment skid that will enable cooling towers to operate at a near static TDS concentration in the recycle stream without the use of softening .

Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP)

Municipal and industrial service providers continue to face increasing stringent regulatory requirements. Traditional treatment processes often cannot remediate and/or effectively reduce contaminant concentrations of impaired waters.  Technologies and treatment approaches originally developed for industrial applications are now being considered for use in municipal facilities. We offer system level solutions for difficult to treat waters across multiple market sectors.

Advanced oxidation processes (AOP) are widely accepted for the removal of man-made and naturally occurring organic contaminants through the creation of hydroxyl radicals (•OH). The hydroxyl radical is the strongest oxidant that can be applied and can virtually oxidize any compound present in the water matrix. The AOP process is particularly useful for the remediation of biologically toxic or non-degradable materials such as aromatics, pesticides, petroleum constituents, and volatile organic compounds from potable water and wastewater effluent. The contaminants are “mineralized” into simply water and carbon dioxide.

The AOP reaction is traditionally generated by the combination of at least two of the following, ozone, UV light, and/or hydrogen peroxide.  We have developed hybrid AOP designs much more energy and process efficient, especially when used in conjunction with the NeoTech Aqua UV reactors. The reflective UV chamber provides an unmatched use of the catalyst that can increase their treatment capacity by 2-3 times, especially in municipal wastewater applications.  In addition to advanced oxidation and reduction processes, we also offer integrated, cost-effective advanced treatment systems integrated with membrane filtration to meet your facility’s needs. 


If there is a way to filter a constituent from a flow stream, we can engineer and fabricate a system to meet your needs. Our knowledge of filtration processes and techniques include: 

  • Capturing sand and sediment with a simple mechanical filter
  • Removing sediment and colloidal matter using various filter medias
  • Reducing specific target molecules by selective ion exchange resins or traditional softening processes
  • Removal of dissolved colloidal carbon and microorganisms by employing micro or ultrafiltration membrane systems 
  • The use of nanofiltration or reverse osmosis to reduce the total dissolved solids (TDS) to within a specified range

Today reverse osmosis and hollow fiber ultrafiltration membranes form the backbone of high performance filtration designs. We develop the type(s) and configuration of filtration technology combined with the process control strategy necessary to meet your site specific needs.  If your organization has standardized on a specific supplier of media, ion exchange resins, membranes, etc. we can often accommodate the preferred vendor into our design to best suit the customer’s long-term needs. 


Finding an ozone generator supplier is easy. Finding a system integrator that understands the entire system from the air preparation / oxygen supply, ozone generator’s operating parameters, automation and instrumentation, feed methodology, to destruction of residual ozone isn’t so easy. At Environmental Technologies, we focus on providing complete ozone based, chemical free treatment systems designed for your specific project requirements. We design and fabricate modular, high efficiency ozone systems using only ozone generators and primary panel components manufactured by Plasma Technics, Inc. (PTI). PTI’s Plasma Blo3ck® ozone generating products represent the true state of the art technology with single air-cooled generators rated to 140 grams of ozone per hour and water-cooled generators with capacities to 450 grams / hour.   A few of the many uses for ozone treatment include:

Process Controls

Process control systems can range from simple manual hand switches to PLC-based remote SCADA controlled computer interfaces. All of our in-house built control panels utilize Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and associated primary components. The level of system automation and process control provided is tailored to the individual project to deliver a reliable, operator-friendly, and easily maintained design. The instrumentation package we recommend is based on the size and complexity of the treatment process, level of operator oversight available, and the need for remote monitoring.  Remote monitoring and/or control systems can be operated via EtherNet/IP, cellular, 900 mHz or hard-wired communications. Our programmers are Allan Bradley PLC and WonderWare software certified. We can supply additional “off-skid” onsite and/or off-site water quality or process monitoring equipment to meet regulatory agency requirements. The need for additional upstream or downstream instrumentation is reviewed with the Customer and/or Engineer during scope development. 

FOG and Odor Control

Environmental Technologies represents Protein Matrix, a unique FOG (Fat, Oil & Grease) control and industrial degreasing product that we believe has several beneficial and cost effective applications. Protein Matrix is a proprietary blend of amino acids, peptides, and proteins extracted from cereal grains using a proprietary, patented process. This family of natural products disrupts the intermolecular forces holding fat / grease molecules together and prevents them from ever reagglomerating. The product is low to non-foaming and is not chlorinated. Protein Matrix is certified by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for use in drinking water treatment applications (NSF 60) and non-food contact service (NSF A8). 

Protein Matrix is extremely effective in preventing the build-up of fats and grease within wastewater lift stations and service piping while also controlling noxious odors. We can prepare custom formulations as needed to optimize the product’s performance and cost effectiveness for unusual operating conditions or unique applications. All products are packaged in UN rated containers and are offered in cases of 12 - 16 ounce bottles or 4 – 1 gallon jugs, 5 gallon carboys, 15 and 30 gallon mini-barrels, and 55 gallon drums (55 gallon drums can be color coded), and 275 gallon IBC totes to meet your facility’s needs.
